Perhaps one of the first hybrid Hypercars par excellence, the Porsche 918 Spyder, being part of the “holy trinity  of hypercars with an electric component in the powertrain. It was marketed from 2013 to 2015 and about 918 specimens were built, at a starting price, at the time of about 800 thousand euros. Now the prices have risen significantly, over one million euros for a car with a unique elegance, super technological for 2013 but with a timeless line and capable of recalling the entire history of the Stuttgart brand, projecting it into the future.

In those years, between 2013 and 2015, it was conceived to take part in a close fight with two other hypercars, equally similar but at the same time very different. Let’s talk about the legendary McLaren P1 and the Ferrari LaFerrari. The uniqueness of the Porsche 918 lay precisely in its engine, above all a centrally aspirated 4.6 V8, unusual for a Porsche that has always been linked to the rear boxers but derived from the car used in the endurance championship and in the 24h of Le Mans. The thermal component weighs around 135 kg and is able to deliver around 610 hp and 570 Nm at almost 9,000 rpm, supported by two electric motors, one with 156 HP positioned at the rear that works as a generator and supports the delivery of the heat while the second with 130 HP is positioned at the front, recreating an on-demand all-wheel drive, without prop shaft.

Performance level down in 2013

The total power generated by the 3 engines is 890 hp and 1,280 Nm of torque, all orchestrated by the clever 7-speed Porsche double-clutch, called PDK. Performance is formidable, with a 0-100 km / h acceleration covered in just 2.6 seconds and a 0-200 km / h of just 7.2 seconds, for a top speed of 345 km / h

Electrical compartment

The electrical component is characterized by a battery lithium-ion battery from 312 cells and a total capacity of 6.8 kWh, located under the passenger seat. This is a plug-in hybrid car, in fact, there is a charging socket on the passenger side. It is obviously equipped with regenerative braking and can move (unlike the LaFerrari) even in 100% electric mode for about 12 km.
