Nikola Motor, a well-known American company that produces zero-emission vehicles, has announced that it has received a maxi order from Republic Services for the supply of 2,500 electric trucks. An order that in the future could be expanded up to 5,000 units. Specifically, the vehicles will be used for waste removal within cities. Republic Services, in fact, is an important company in Phoenix that deals with the collection of garbage.
The electric trucks covered by the order will be a variant of the Nikola Tre model . These are vehicles capable of offering a range of up to 150 miles (about 240 km), a distance more than sufficient for the activities they will have to carry out daily. The engine will be “limited” to a power of 1,000 hp (736 kW). The first road tests will begin in 2022, while actual production is expected to start in 2023.
For Nikola, this is a very important order, especially in the future, given that the market for zero-emission industrial vehicles is progressively growing. Investors have welcomed this news very well: Nikola’s shares, in fact, immediately rose on the stock market. The American company, however, is also working in other fields. For example, he recently announced the Nikola Badger pickup which will be offered in two variants: one electric and one hydrogen. Those interested can already book it.
