The new Toyota Hilux arrives, among the novelties of the restyling there is the new 204 HP 2.8-liter diesel engine and the new top-of-the-range version Invincible.
Toyota presents the new Hilux pick-up, now also powered by a powerful 2.8-liter engine, which joins the already known 2.4-liter version. Among the novelties of the new model, there is also the top of the range “Invincible” version. Its payload capacity of 1 ton, coupled with the towing capacity of 3.5 tons, has been extended to all 4-wheel drive body types (Single Cab, Extra Cab, and Double Cab).
Since its launch in 1968, the unstoppable Hilux has proven its invincibility time and time again, having conquered the North Pole, Icelandic volcanoes, the Antarctic, and a victory at the Dakar Rally in 2019. Toyota Hilux, as it is, features
The front of the new Toyota Hilux has been completely redesigned thanks to a more evident three-dimensional grille that, combined with a new front bumper line, significantly increases the pick-up’s presence on the road and its strong tonnage.
In addition, among the external elements, we have the newly developed front and rear LED light clusters, a new finish of the 18 ″ black alloy wheels, and the addition of a new Oxide Bronze metallic color.
Interior, inside as is the Toyota Hilux pickup
The interior of the new Toyota Hilux has been renewed and is characterized by the new design of the instrument panel and the new 8 ″ infotainment screen positioned on the center console that adopts buttons and knobs for better operation in all driving conditions.
The multimedia system has been improved, it is equipped with more powerful software and faster screen response, and incorporates both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for smartphone integration.
Toyota Hilux, new diesel engine
The engine range of the new Hilux has been extended with the new and more powerful 2.8 liters, 204 hp diesel engine. With an impressive 500 Nm of torque, this new engine allows the pick-up to accelerate from 0-100 km / h in just 10 seconds (2.8 seconds faster than the current 2.4-liter unit), with average fuel consumption of fuel of 7.8 l / 100 km and CO2 emissions of 204 g / km.
The new 2.8-liter engine is available in the Double Cab version and is associated with the 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox, always combined with the 4-wheel drive.
Toyota Hilux 4 × 4 off-road
Toyota Hilux does not fear the most treacherous terrains and for extreme off-road conditions, it can count on its “body-on-frame” structure, able to resist torsion forces better and longer.
The comfort and driveability of the new Hilux have been improved thanks to the interventions carried out on the suspension and power steering. The suspension benefits from a new tuning of the front and rear shock absorbers, the new leaf spring design, and new bushings.
The off-road capabilities of the Hilux have been further improved thanks to a new electronic function that replicates the effect of a mechanical LSD (on 2WD models); lower engine idle speed from 850 to 680 rpm and optimized throttle response for greater driver control. The new features are completed by an updated VSC system and a new tire angle monitor.
Toyota Hilux Single Cab, Extra Cab, and Double Cab set-ups
For the Single Cab 4 × 2 input Toyota version of the new Hilux is the Active adding today than the previous model the oddments tray with cooled lock. For the 4 × 4 Single Cab, Extra Cab, and Double Cab versions, the entry-level is Comfort, with front differential with automatic disconnection as standard, heated electric door mirrors, with integrated direction indicator, and with front bumper in body color and Stop & Start device starting from the Extra Cab version.
The Lounge set-up is available in 4 × 4 Extra Cab and Double cab (also automatic) versions: among the novelties, there are the new 4-bulb halogen headlights and new LED fog lights, new chrome finishes such as the grille around the grille of the radiator and corners of the rear bumper. The new 8 ”Toyota Touch with a rearview camera and smartphone integration is available inside.
This set-up is also available in the 2.8D 204cv engine, with manual transmission and additionally has heated front seats, anti-icing wipers, and updated Toyota Safety Sense.
The Executive set- up adds the Toyota Safety Sense update to the Lounge version, new LED headlights, new 18 “two-tone alloy wheels, Toyota Touch with GO Satellite Navigator, front and rear parking sensors, and leather package that includes leather seats, heated front, driver’s side with electric adjustment and anti-icing wiper, in addition to the already present DAC (downhill driving assistance) and automatic climate control. Both the Lounge and Executive Double Cab versions are equipped with side steps with aluminum door sills.
Toyota Hilux Invincible
The top of the new Toyota Hilux range, available in the Double Cab variant, is the Invincible version. This model features some exclusive exterior details such as the front grille and bumpers, underbody plate, wheel arches, handles, rims, and dedicated tailgate design.
Onboard, the Invincible is based on the specifications of the high-end versions with exclusive instrumentation, black metallic, and black chrome finishes, and even a dedicated smart entry key. “ Clear blue” front and rear door lighting and dual-tone perforated leather seats have been added to enhance the appeal of the cabin.
New Toyota Hilux, prices
The price list of the new Toyota Hilux pick-up starts from 17,950 euros (VAT and MSS excluded) for the Hilux 2.4D Single Cab Active 4X2 version in case of exchange or scrapping.
The price of the new top-of-the-range version Invincible 2.8D AT, in case of exchange or scrapping, is 33,000 euros, which can also be purchased through a leasing formula with installments of € 295 for 48 months and theft and fire insurance included.
