KIA RIO 2021: SAVINGS HAPPEN “SAILING”
The new Kia Rio 2021 in mild-hybrid version will be equipped with 1.0 T-GDi Smartstream petrol combined with hybrid technology with 48 Volt voltage and the special iMT intelligent transmission, which in a certain sense replicates the behaviour of those with automatic transmission. How? Through the “coasting” technique, which makes the car proceed with the engine off with the thrust of inertia when you take your foot off the accelerator: in this case, the Rio disengages the clutch and automatically switches off the engine, allowing you to “sail” and to completely reduce fuel consumption.
This engine takes the place of the previous 1.2 MPi, which will remain in the price list (with appropriate modifications) only in the LPG variant arriving on the market in the early months of 2021. Returning to the 1.0 T-GDi, this will be offered in two power variants: in the 100 horsepower configuration, with six-speed iMT manual gearbox, and in the 120 horsepower one, combined with the seven-speed DCT dual-clutch gearbox.
KIA RIO 2021: TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED
In addition to this, the new Kia Rio 2021 will stand out from the competition for a level of technology on board that certainly recalls more expensive and refined cars. As far as the infotainment is concerned, there will be an 8-inch touchscreen navigation system equipped with UVO Connect Phase II, a Bluetooth-based technology signed by Kia Motors that allows the main screen to be divided on the dashboard to simultaneously control multiple vital functions of the car.
It will be possible to have access to several very interesting services, such as real-time traffic information, weather forecasts and the price of fuels in the vicinity of your position, without forgetting the recognition of the voice commands given by the user and compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay systems. Obviously, there is no shortage of all the most important level 2 ADAS driving aids, such as the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) system with recognition of pedestrians, vehicles and cyclists, Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Driver Attention Warning ( DAW) and Blind Spot Detection.
The series will present the Kia Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC) and Straight-line Stability (SLS), while depending on the grade you can add the ‘ Blind Spot Monitoring Assistant (BCA), Intelligent Speed Limit Warning (ISLW), Smart Cruise Control (SCC) and Lane Follow Assist (LFA).
