The Jeep has provided a series of new details relating to the Renegade and Compass 4xe available on the market: in particular, the company has published a long series of information relating to the technique and fittings of the two plug-in hybrid SUVs, the first of the brand.

CONSUMPTION

The powertrain consisting of the 1.3 Multiair petrol turbo, the six-speed automatic transmission and the electric motor positioned on the rear axle is available in 190 and 240 hp versions, both with 11.4 kWh batteries. The electric motor delivers 60 HP and 250 Nm, while the endothermic values change, which now delivers 130 (or 180 HP) and 270 Nm of torque. The maximum speed is limited to 130 km / h in electric mode, in which you can travel up to 50 km; using the powertrain in mixed mode, on the other hand, you can reach 200 km / h and go from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.5 seconds, while the average Wltp consumption stands at 2.0 l / 100 km. It is important to note that the battery pack has been positioned under the luggage compartment, minimizing the overall dimensions: the Renegade, therefore, declares 330 litres of capacity, while the Compass rises to 420 litres, against the 351 and 438 litres of the other versions. This without giving up the spare wheel.

THREE DRIVING MODES AND MANY ELECTRONIC ADJUSTMENTS

At the wheel of the Jeep 4xe, it is possible to take advantage of three driving modes called Hybrid, Electric and e-save. The first and second allow you to choose which elements of the powertrain to activate, while the third maintains the charge of the batteries through the petrol engine with two levels of intervention (passive and active) in order to then be able to count on full electric autonomy in other driving conditions specifications: through the further Battery Charge option, however, the system automatically brings the battery up to 80% regardless of the initial value. The two Jeep models also offer the innovative electric all-wheel drive with a specific variant of the Selec-Terrain equipped with the Auto, Snow, Sport and Mud & Sand modes, to which is added the Rock of the Trailhawk set-up. The eAWD electric all-wheel drive also includes the Hybrid 4X4, 4WD Lock and 4WD Low settings: in the first, the car’s control units will decide how and when to send the torque to the two axles; in the second, the electric motor is always active up to 15 km / h and becomes on-demand at higher speeds: if the battery drops in charge, moreover, power looping is activated to supply energy through the internal combustion engine. Finally, with the 4WD Low setting, the maximum system performance is exploited. In addition, the driver can adjust the e-coasting on two levels to obtain a greater braking effect in release when the transmission is in Drive. the electric motor is always active up to 15 km / h and becomes on-demand at higher speeds: if the battery drops in charge, moreover, power looping is activated to supply energy through the internal combustion engine. OFF-ROAD WITH ALL-WHEEL DRIVE EV

According to the Jeep, the 4xe models can count on the same off-road driving skills as all the other cars of the brand. In particular, the presence of the electric motor makes it possible to take advantage of the immediate torque at low rpm to get out of the way in the most difficult conditions, adjusting the starting point with extreme precision. All the electronic elements have also been sealed to ensure a fording capacity of 40 cm on the Trailhawk versions, which also offer specific steel body protections, more favourable angles of attack and exit and dedicated 17 “M + S tires.

THE APP CAN HELP YOU

To show the potential of its electrified models, the FCA group has also developed the Go 4xe Live App. Users will be able to register and simulate trips with Jeep 4xe cars, thus displaying the calculation of the kilometres travelled with the electric motor only and evaluating the impact of electrification on their lifestyle. The App includes the map of the charging points and can also work Live during a real journey with your car, so as to immediately compare the performance of the vehicles with each other. For those who have already chosen the new Jeep 4xe, UConnect infotainment offers a series of dedicated services such as MyAssistant, MyCar, MyRemote, My Navigation and My echarge connected to the My UConnect App.
