The new Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is the latest special edition of the successful French hypercar, which leaves the power of 1500 HP unchanged but goes on to refine the set-up and driveability, as well as take the design to extremes thanks to a new rear wing.

The new Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport joins the long list of special editions that the French manufacturer has begun to develop for its latest model. The new variant was presented at the Geneva Motor Show 2020 in a virtual key, given the Coronavirus emergency, at the dawning time.

The interventions carried out on this Chiron Pur Sport are not as marked as one might think, however on the whole they make the experience onboard one of the fastest cars in the world more extreme. In fact, we are talking about stiffer suspensions, 69% at the rear and 33% at the front, more invasive active aerodynamics, and a considerable weight reduction. The electronics were then revised to make the enormous power of Bugatti’s legendary W16 more accessible and tame. These interventions make the Chiron Pur Sport more manageable and responsive than a more “common” Chiron, with more direct steering, greater stability even at high speeds, and control never before achieved on the Chiron.

The engine W16 8.0 displacement delivers the same power of 1500 hp from Chiron, moving the peak power 200 r / min higher, at an altitude of 6,900 rev/min. This happens because the new automatic transmission has been recalibrated to be faster in the changes and more reactive, with a clearer perception of the car’s performance. Ratios have been shortened by 15%, with engine elasticity improved by 40%. The new forged rims reduce the overall weight by an impressive 16 kg, useful for unsprung masses and sporting a design that helps aerodynamic flows along the sides. We find new specific Bugatti Sport Cup R tires developed by Michelin, 285/30 R20 for the front and 355/25 R21 for the rear. To reduce the unsprung masses, ultra-light carbon-ceramic brake pads and discs have been used, which help reduce overall weight.

The aesthetics of the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport have also been revised, with a redesigned and sharper front, with a larger grille and new carbon finishes. The bodywork around the more aggressive and frowning headlights also appears to have been slightly modified. In the rear, an imposing wing appears, about 1.9 meters wide, capable of producing a very high downforce over 200 km / h. Also new is the exhaust system, entirely made of titanium with two new split tailpipes, placed in a central position.

Only 16 examples of the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport will be built, starting at 3.2 million euros, excluding VAT. What will the owners of Chiron and Chiron Sport think?
